
Mumbai : India’s leading commodity derivatives exchange, Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) has recorded turnover of Rs.1781554.52 crores in various futures & option contracts during the week of June 20 to 28. In which commodity futures accounted for Rs. 204232.38 crores and options on commodity futures for Rs. 1577293.25 crores (notional). Bullion Index MCXBULLDEX Jul-25 futures was reached at 22604.
During the week, trading in precious metals, specifically gold and silver futures, amounted to Rs.143,300.11 crore. MCX Gold August futures opened at Rs.98,847, reached an intra-day high of Rs.99,830 and a low of Rs.96,422, and closed at Rs.97,087 per 10 grams, down Rs.2,242 or 2.26% from the previous close of Rs.99,329. Gold-Guinea July futures fell Rs.1,780 or 2.22%, closing at Rs.78,314 per 8 grams. Gold-Petal July futures dropped Rs.197 or 1.97%, closing at Rs.9,825 per 1 gram. Gold-Mini July futures opened at Rs.98,680, hit an intra-day high of Rs.99,231 and a low of Rs.96,028, and closed at Rs.96,452 per 10 grams, down Rs.2,416 or 2.44%. Gold-Ten July futures opened at Rs.99,068, touched an intra-day high of Rs.99,931 and a low of Rs.96,857, and closed at Rs.97,321 per 10 grams, down Rs.2,249 or 2.26% from the previous close of Rs.99,570.
In silver futures, Silver July futures opened at Rs.106,501, hit an intra-day high of Rs.107,445 and a low of Rs.103,680, and closed at Rs.106,755 per kilogram, down Rs.638 or 0.59% from the previous close of Rs.107,393. Silver-Mini August futures fell Rs.752 or 0.69%, closing at Rs.107,750 per kilogram, while Silver-Micro August futures dropped Rs.764 or 0.7%, closing at Rs.107,732 per kilogram.
In the metals segment, trading worth Rs.14,885.39 crore was recorded. Copper July futures rose Rs.11.75 or 1.33%, closing at Rs.896 per kilogram. Zinc July futures gained Rs.6.3 or 2.48%, closing at Rs.260 per kilogram. Aluminium July futures increased Rs.1.3 or 0.53%, closing at Rs.248.15 per kilogram, while Lead July futures fell Rs.0.50 or 0.28%, closing at Rs.180.55 per kilogram.
In the energy segment, trades worth Rs.44,755.27 crore were recorded. MCX Crude Oil July futures opened at Rs.6,380, hit an intra-day high of Rs.6,550 and a low of Rs.5,512, and closed at Rs.5,625 per barrel, down Rs.824 or 12.78%. Crude Oil-Mini July futures fell Rs.820 or 12.72%, closing at Rs.5,628 per barrel. Natural Gas July futures opened at Rs.362, reached an intra-day high of Rs.366.6 and a low of Rs.292.7, and closed at Rs.300.9 per MMBTU, down Rs.59.7 or 16.56% from the previous close of Rs.360.6. Natural Gas-Mini July futures also dropped Rs.59.6 or 16.53%, closing at Rs.300.9 per MMBTU.
In agricultural commodities, Mentha Oil July futures opened at Rs.933 and closed at Rs.923.6 per kilogram, down Rs.8.4 or 0.9%. Cotton Candy July futures rose Rs.40 or 0.08%, closing at Rs.53,040 per candy.
In terms of trading volume, gold contracts on MCX saw a turnover of Rs.95,632.82 crore, while silver contracts recorded Rs.47,667.29 crore. Copper futures saw Rs.9,986.59 crore, aluminium and aluminium-mini futures Rs.1,896.23 crore, lead and lead-mini futures Rs.274.79 crore, and zinc and zinc-mini futures Rs.2,727.77 crore in trades.
Crude oil and crude oil-mini futures recorded Rs.17,790.46 crore in trades, while natural gas and natural gas-mini futures saw Rs.26,964.82 crore. Mentha oil futures had a turnover of Rs.10.84 crore, and cotton candy futures recorded Rs.0.96 crore.
Open interest at the week’s end stood at 13,532 lots for gold futures, 17,388 lots for gold-mini futures, 8,090 lots for gold-guinea futures, 113,174 lots for gold-petal futures, and 10,294 lots for gold-ten futures. Silver futures had 6,546 lots, silver-mini futures 29,316 lots, and silver-micro futures 100,468 lots. Crude oil futures had 13,479 lots, and natural gas futures had 21,412 lots.
