
Mumbai : India’s leading commodity derivatives exchange, Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) has recorded turnover of Rs.1591006.04 crores in various futures & option contracts for commodities listed at MCX during the week of April, 25 to May 1. In which commodity futures accounted for Rs.188600.70 crores and options on commodity futures for Rs.1402398.96 crores (notional). Bullion Index MCXBULLDEX May-25 futures was reached at 21323.
Bullion: During the week, precious metals saw trading of Rs.1,47,636.68 crore in GOLD and SILVER futures. MCX GOLD June futures opened at Rs.95,999, touched an intra-day high of Rs.96,300 and a low of Rs.92,055, and closed at Rs.92,339 per 10 grams, down Rs.3,573 or 3.73% from the previous close of Rs.95,912. GOLD-GUINEA May futures fell by Rs.2,513 or 3.26%, closing at Rs.74,685 per 8 grams. GOLD-PETAL May futures dropped by Rs.314 or 3.24%, ending at Rs.9,363 per 1 gram. GOLD-MINI May futures opened at Rs.95,977, hit an intra-day high of Rs.96,262 and a low of Rs.92,380, and closed at Rs.92,710 per 10 grams, down Rs.3,097 or 3.23%. GOLD-TEN May futures opened at Rs.96,449, reached an intra-day high of Rs.96,483 and a low of Rs.92,444, and closed at Rs.92,659 per 10 grams, down Rs.3,424 or 3.56% from Rs.96,083.
In SILVER futures, SILVER May futures opened at Rs.97,495, hit an intra-day high of Rs.97,699 and a low of Rs.92,226, and closed at Rs.93,583 per kilogram, down Rs.3,928 or 4.03% from Rs.97,511. SILVER-MINI June futures fell by Rs.3,915 or 3.97%, closing at Rs.94,820 per kilogram. SILVER-MICRO June futures dropped by Rs.3,890 or 3.94%, ending at Rs.94,841 per kilogram.
Base Metal: Metal futures recorded trades worth Rs.12,391.18 crore. COPPER May futures fell by Rs.30.1 or 3.5%, closing at Rs.830.7 per kilogram. ZINC May futures dropped by Rs.11.4 or 4.46%, ending at Rs.244.25 per kilogram. ALUMINIUM May futures declined by Rs.6.1 or 2.57%, closing at Rs.230.9 per kilogram. LEAD May futures fell by Rs.0.4 or 0.23%, ending at Rs.177.1 per kilogram.
Energy: In the energy segment, trades worth Rs.28,554.50 crore were recorded. MCX CRUDE OIL May futures opened at Rs.5,395, hit an intra-day high of Rs.5,438 and a low of Rs.4,822, and closed at Rs.4,972 per barrel, down Rs.408 or 7.58%. CRUDE OIL-MINI May futures fell by Rs.409 or 7.6%, closing at Rs.4,974 per barrel. NATURAL GAS May futures opened at Rs.265.8, reached an intra-day high of Rs.294.9 and a low of Rs.260.5, and closed at Rs.290.6 per MMBTU, up Rs.27.1 or 10.28% from Rs.263.5. NATURAL GAS-MINI May futures rose by Rs.27 or 10.25%, closing at Rs.290.5 per MMBTU.
AGRI: In agricultural commodities, MENTHA OIL May futures opened at Rs.917.5 and closed at Rs.913.7 per kilogram, down Rs.6.5 or 0.71%. COTTON-CANDY May futures fell by Rs.1,760 or 3.15%, closing at Rs.54,190 per candy.
Volume: In terms of trading volume, GOLD contracts saw Rs.106,586.23 crore, and SILVER contracts Rs.41,050.44 crore in trades. COPPER futures recorded Rs.8,249.26 crore, ALUMINIUM and ALUMINIUM-MINI Rs.1,326.55 crore, LEAD and lead-MINI Rs.274.50 crore, and ZINC and ZINC-MINI Rs.2,540.88 crore. CRUDE OIL and CRUDE OIL-MINI futures saw Rs.7,259.51 crore, while NATURAL GAS and NATURAL GAS-MINI futures recorded Rs.21,294.99 crore.
MENTHA OIL futures saw Rs.16.25 crore, and COTTON-CANDY futures Rs.2.10 crore in trades.
Open interest: Open interest at the week’s end stood at 14,840 lots for GOLD futures, 1,036 lots for GOLD-MINI, 7,129 lots for GOLD-guinea, 84,459 lots for GOLD-PETAL, and 5,193 lots for GOLD-TEN. SILVER futures had 230 lots, SILVER-MINI 26,187 lots, and SILVER-MICRO 90,965 lots. CRUDE OIL futures had 18,991 lots, and NATURAL GAS futures 11,394 lots.
index futures: In index futures, BULLDEX May futures opened at 22,027 points, hit an intra-day high of 22,113 and a low of 21,223, and closed at 21,323 points, down 784 points.
