
Mumbai : India’s leading commodity derivatives exchange, Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) has recorded turnover of Rs.1816503.37 crores in various futures & option contracts for commodities listed at MCX, during the week of May 9-15. In which commodity futures accounted for Rs. 206838.7 crores and options on commodity futures for Rs. 1609653.17 crores (notional). Bullion Index MCXBULLDEX May-25 futures was reached at 21498. The total premium turnover in commodity options was ₹26,532.18 crore.
Commodity Future Contracts:
Bullion: In precious metals, Turnover of GOLD and SILVER futures variants clocked Rs. 154588.46 crores. MCX GOLD June futures opened at ₹96,020, touched an intra-day high of ₹96,741 and a low of ₹90,890, and closed at ₹93,169 per 10 grams, down ₹2,999 or 3.12% from the previous close of ₹96,168. GOLD-Guinea May futures fell ₹2,517 or 3.25% to ₹74,954 per 8 grams. GOLD-Petal May futures dropped ₹280 or 2.89% to ₹9,425 per 1 gram. GOLD-Mini June futures opened at ₹96,081, hit an intra-day high of ₹96,733 and a low of ₹90,970, and closed at ₹93,155 per 10 grams, down ₹2,998 or 3.12%. GOLD-Ten May futures opened at ₹96,400, reached an intra-day high of ₹96,928 and a low of ₹91,279, and closed at ₹93,330 per 10 grams, down ₹3,071 or 3.19% from the previous close of ₹96,401.
In SILVER futures, SILVER July futures opened at ₹96,190, touched an intra-day high of ₹97,666 and a low of ₹93,800, and closed at ₹95,915 per kg, down ₹597 or 0.62% from the previous close of ₹96,512. SILVER-Mini June futures fell ₹607 or 0.63% to ₹95,899 per kg, while SILVER-Micro June futures dropped ₹603 or 0.62% to ₹95,910 per kg.
GOLD futures clocked turnover of Rs. 79866.04 crores with volume of 85504 lots and OI of 11079 lots while SILVER futures clocked turnover of Rs. 22638.93 crores with volume of 78700 lots and OI of 20526 lots.
Base Metal: Turnover of base metal futures products accounted for Rs. 15103.20 crores. COPPER May futures rose ₹6.35 or 0.74% to ₹862.25 per kg. ZINC May futures increased ₹8 or 3.19% to ₹259.05 per kg. ALUMINIUM May futures gained ₹6.75 or 2.88% to ₹241.05 per kg, while LEAD May futures rose ₹0.45 or 0.25% to ₹178.7 per kg.
COPPER futures clocked turnover of Rs. 9628.34 crores, ALUMINIUM futures Rs. 1548.88 crores, LEAD futures Rs. 315.99 crores, and ZINC futures clocked turnover of Rs. 2463.30 crores.
Energy: Turnover of energy futures products contributed for Rs. 37134.18 crores. MCX CRUDE OIL May futures opened at ₹5,162, hit an intra-day high of ₹5,442 and a low of ₹5,146, and closed at ₹5,271 per barrel, up ₹108 or 2.09%. CRUDE OIL-Mini May futures rose ₹110 or 2.13% to ₹5,272 per barrel. NATURAL GAS May futures opened at ₹309.2, reached an intra-day high of ₹326.1 and a low of ₹289.9, and closed at ₹292.1 per MMBTU, down ₹14.7 or 4.79% from the previous close of ₹306.8. NATURAL GAS-Mini May futures fell ₹14.6 or 4.76% to ₹292.3 per MMBTU.
CRUDE OIL futures clocked turnover of Rs. 9328.42 crores and NATURAL GAS futures Rs. 22430.65 crores.
AGRI: In agricultural commodities, MENTHA OIL May futures opened at ₹923 and closed at ₹910.4 per kg, down ₹15 or 1.62%. COTTON CANDY May futures rose ₹260 or 0.48% to ₹54,450 per candy.
Trading Volume: In terms of trading volume, GOLD contracts on MCX saw trades worth ₹114,023.36 crore, while SILVER contracts recorded ₹40,565.10 crore. COPPER futures saw ₹9,628.34 crore, ALUMINIUM and ALUMINIUM-mini futures ₹1,910.67 crore, LEAD and lead-mini futures ₹346.70 crore, and ZINC and ZINC-mini futures ₹3,217.49 crore in trades.
CRUDE OIL and CRUDE OIL-mini futures recorded trades worth ₹10,437.68 crore, while NATURAL GAS and NATURAL GAS-mini futures saw ₹26,696.50 crore. MENTHA OIL futures recorded ₹8.94 crore, and COTTON CANDY futures saw ₹3.93 crore in trades.
