
Mumbai : India’s LEADing commodity derivatives exchange, Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) has recorded turnover of Rs.1418503.09 crores in various futures & option contracts for commodities listed at MCX during the week of May 16 to 22. In which commodity futures accounted for Rs.206884.14 crores and options on commodity futures for Rs.1211614.1 crores (notional). Bullion Index MCXBULLDEX May-25 futures was reached at 22029.
Commodity Future Contracts:
Bullion: In precious metals, Turnover of GOLD and SILVER futures variants clocked Rs.159627.74 crores. MCX GOLD June futures opened at Rs.92,859 per 10 grams, reaching an intra-day high of Rs.96,383 and a low of Rs.91,615. It closed at Rs.95,536, up Rs.2,367 from the previous close of Rs.93,169. GOLD-GUINEA May futures rose by Rs.1,590 per 8 grams, closing at Rs.76,544. GOLD-PETAL May futures increased by Rs.182 per gram to Rs.9,607. GOLD-MINI June futures surged by Rs.2,306 per 10 grams, closing at Rs.95,461. GOLD-TEN May futures opened at Rs.93,051 per 10 grams, hit an intra-day high of Rs.96,173 and a low of Rs.92,000, and closed at Rs.95,498, up Rs.2,168 from the previous close of Rs.93,330.
In SILVER futures, SILVER July futures opened at Rs.95,751 per kg, touched an intra-day high of Rs.99,365 and a low of Rs.94,376, and closed at Rs.97,796, up Rs.1,881 from the previous close of Rs.95,915. SILVER-MINI June futures rose by Rs.1,772 to close at Rs.97,671 per kg, and SILVER-MICRO June futures gained Rs.1,761, closing at Rs.97,671.
GOLD futures clocked turnover of Rs.86761.39 crores with volume of 91729 lots while SILVER futures clocked turnover of Rs.20982.95 crores with volume of 72125 lots.
Base Metal: Turnover of base metal futures products accounted for Rs.13802.82 crores. COPPER May futures fell by Rs.3.05 to Rs.859.2 per kg. ZINC May futures rose by Rs.1.4 to Rs.260.45 per kg. ALUMINIUM May futures declined by Rs.4.2 to Rs.236.85 per kg, and LEAD May futures dropped by Rs.1.35 to Rs.177.35 per kg.
COPPER futures clocked turnover of Rs.8697.92 crores, ALUMINIUM futures Rs.1648.36 crores, LEAD futures Rs.228.54 crores, and ZINC futures clocked turnover of Rs.2281.07 crores.
Energy: Turnover of energy futures products contributed for Rs.33431.71 crores. MCX CRUDE OIL June futures opened at Rs.5,231 per barrel, reached an intra-day high of Rs.5,437 and a low of Rs.5,201, and closed at Rs.5,265, up Rs.8 from the previous close of Rs.5,257. CRUDE OIL-MINI June futures improved by Rs.6 to Rs.5,265. NATURAL GAS May futures fell by Rs.11.2 to Rs.280.9 per MMBtu, and NATURAL GAS-MINI May futures dropped by Rs.11.3 to Rs.281.
CRUDE OIL futures clocked turnover of Rs.6183.58 crores and NATURAL GAS futures Rs.22311.68 crores.
AGRI: In agricultural commodities, MENTHA OIL May futures opened at Rs.911.1 per kg and fell by Rs.1.7 to Rs.908.7. COTTON CANDY May futures declined by Rs.380 per candy, closing at Rs.54,070.
Volume: In terms of trading volume, GOLD futures on MCX recorded Rs.121,233.74 crore, and SILVER futures recorded Rs.38,394 crore. COPPER futures saw Rs.8,697.92 crore, ALUMINIUM and ALUMINIUM-MINI futures Rs.1,983.54 crore, LEAD and LEAD-MINI futures Rs.256.24 crore, and ZINC and ZINC-MINI futures Rs.2,865.13 crore. CRUDE OIL and CRUDE OIL-MINI futures recorded Rs.7,159.51 crore, NATURAL GAS and NATURAL GAS-MINI futures Rs.26,272.20 crore, MENTHA OIL futures Rs.12.41 crore, and COTTON CANDY futures Rs.9.46 crore.
Open interest: At the end of the week open interest stood at 9,678 lots for GOLD futures, 18,780 lots for GOLD-MINI futures, 3,417 lots for GOLD-GUINEA futures, 38,998 lots for GOLD-PETAL futures, and 4,621 lots for GOLD-TEN futures. SILVER futures had 16,788 lots, SILVER-MINI futures 25,863 lots, and SILVER-MICRO futures 78,915 lots. CRUDE OIL futures had 11,533 lots, and NATURAL GAS futures had 9,307 lots.
Index Futures: Regarding index futures, BullDEX May futures opened at 21,498 points, reached an intra-day high of 22,200 points and a low of 21,251 points, and closed at 22,029 points, up 531 points.
